About Wim Hof
Wim Hof, born on 20 April 1959 in Sittard, the Netherlands, beginning in the days of his youth within the southern part of the Netherlands he got interested in esotericism, Buddhism, Indian traditions, cultures and languages, although he grew up in a Catholic regime. He is commonly known as Iceman for his ability to withstand extreme coldness. As the holder of the incredible number of eighteen world records he is a mystery for traditional science that refuses to research his abilities.
He is father of five children.
For a human body without appropriate clothing, temperatures below 15-10 degrees Celsius(50 - 59 Fahrenheit) can be unpleasantly cold, unbearable below 0°C (32 °F) and downright deadly below -20°C (0 °F).
The situation is even more serious in cold water. A water temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) often leads to death in one hour, and water temperatures hovering at freezing 0 °C (32 °F) can lead to death in as little as 15 minutes.
But not for Wim Hof: the most famous Dutch holder of world records in endurance in extremely cold environments. He has managed to complete, among his 18 world records, a full marathon (42 km / 26 miles) that took place above the polar circle in Finland at temperatures around -20 °C (0 °F) dressed in nothing but shorts. The fastest half marathon run whilst barefoot on ice or snow was achieved in 2 hr 16 min 34 sec.
What is hypothermia?
Hypothermia is the condition in which your core temperature drops below the required temperature for normal metabolism and body functions, which is defined as 35.0 °C. The body temperature is usually maintained near a constant level of 36.5–37.5°C through biologic homeostasis or thermoregulation. If exposed to cold and the internal mechanisms are unable to replenish the heat that is being lost, and then a drop in core temperature occurs. As the body temperature decreases, characteristic symptoms occur such as shivering and mental confusion, followed by physical pain and then eventual death.
And whilst freezing water is deadly within 15 minutes for most people, Wim Hof practiced long baths in ice which he has endured for 1 hour and 44 minutes (that is, for now, an official world record for the longest ice immersion).
So how does he do that? Wim Hof is not especially gifted / he does not possess some special genes that fight against the cold. He does that with what is given to him by his Creator - his mind. The only advantage Wim has is that he is not limited by the traditional medical dogma and the “That’s Impossible” attitude.
Wim has found a way to increase his metabolism twice as high without any increase in heart rate, by influencing his autonomic nervous system, which is considered impossible in conventional medicine. He achieves this by deep mental concentration –and by using the power of the mind. And in fact he can teach anyone to do the same.
Learn how to make your body do the impossible:
Wim Hof can teach anyone to harness the power of the mind given to them by their Creator. He is giving 3-hour and 1-day workshops in which he teaches how to utilize the power of the mind and make our bodies do the impossible:

But Wim Hof can do more. He can instruct his body immune system to either stay dormant or be active. Something regular science still claims is impossible. Even after years of requesting to be tested, scientists at Radboud University Medical Centre in the Dutch city of Nijmegen finally tested Wim Hof’s abilities in April of 2011. Professor of experimental intensive care medicine Dr. Peter Pickkers and his team have performed research on Mr. Hof and have tested his claims that he can influence his autonomic nervous system and immune response through concentration and meditation. They concluded that he is capable of influencing his autonomous bodily functions (Temperature, immune response) purely by using the power of his brain (meditation).
So Wim Hof has been mastering his body - and his abilities are really impressive. But is that all that is possible? Is that the limit?
We know Mr. Hof is not unique. All around the world many individuals have rejected the medical dogma and the “That’s Impossible” attitude medical professionals so often use in order to hide their own lack of knowledge. We at THInK™ Institute believe that our Creator has given all of us the most amazing power: the power of our brainwaves. We are committed to unbiased research of the powers of our brains based on scientific methodology, free of prejudice, dogma and old thinking. We follow where the facts take us discovering the power of brainwaves in controlling our bodies and the world around us. Read more about our incredible discoveries so far and join us at
